The Makita DJR187Z is an 18 V LXT cordless reciprocating saw for demolition, renovation and yard work: cut beams, boards, plastic and metal pipe, and branches without an extension lead. The brushless motor and 32 mm stroke bite hard; two speed ranges (0–2,300 / 0–3,000 spm) and a variable trigger match the pace to the material. Tool-free blade change and an adjustable shoe keep the blade where you need it, an LED lights the cut line, and a hang hook parks the saw on scaffolding. XPT protection handles dust and moisture on site. Capacity is up to 255 mm in wood and 130 mm in pipe. Blades are not included — bring wood/metal/multi-material blades or ask us.

No — blades are consumables chosen for the material. The rental includes the saw, battery and charger. Bring a wood, metal or multi-material blade as needed.
What jobs is a reciprocating saw for?
Demolition, cutting beams and boards, pipe and plastics, and pruning branches. Spark-free metal cutting works with the right blade — for heavy continuous metal cutting, an angle grinder may still be better.
How do I set the speed?
The tool has two speed ranges (0–2,300 and 0–3,000 spm) plus a variable trigger. Start slower and increase once the blade is in the material.
Will the battery last the whole job?
Runtime depends on blade and material. The charger is included so you can top up on breaks. Two batteries are included, so you can work without interruption.
What PPE do I need?
Use safety glasses, hearing protection and gloves. Support the workpiece and keep both hands on the saw — do not cut free-hanging thin pipe without support.
