Product description
The Makita GA029G is a 40 V XGT cordless angle grinder for 125 mm discs: cut metal, grind welds, remove rust and cut tile without an extension lead or generator. The brushless motor runs the disc steplessly from 3,000–8,500 rpm, so you choose low speed for metal grinding and high speed for cutting. The underside paddle switch and soft start keep the tool controllable at start-up, and the electronic disc brake stops the disc quickly when you release the trigger. AFT kickback protection shuts the motor if the disc jams — important for cutting and tight spaces. XPT protection handles dust and moisture on site, and restart prevention stops surprise start-ups after a battery change. AWS readiness allows wireless remote start of a Makita vacuum (chip sold separately) when dust extraction is part of the job. Discs are not included — bring suitable 125 mm discs (22.23 mm bore, M14 thread) or ask us for advice.

Are grinding or cutting discs included?
No — discs are consumables chosen for the job. The rental includes the tool, side handle, battery and charger. You need a 125 mm disc (22.23 mm bore) that fits the M14 thread.
What jobs is the GA029G for?
Cutting metal pipe and profiles, grinding welds, rust removal, and cutting tile or stone with the right disc. The 125 mm size is agile for renovation and install work — for heavy concrete grinding, choose a dedicated concrete grinder.
Will the battery last the whole job?
Runtime depends on disc type and load. Light grinding lasts longer; continuous cutting drains faster. The charger comes with it so you can top up on breaks. For a long day, rent an extra battery.
What PPE do I need?
Always use hearing protection, safety glasses or a visor, and gloves. For sparking metal work, flame-resistant clothing and site fire safety matter too. PPE is not included.
How does AFT kickback protection work?
If the disc jams or stops suddenly, the tool cuts power automatically. That reduces kickback risk when cutting and in tight spots — still use correct stance and a sound disc.
